Du amikoj vizitis la bestĝardenon. 

Unu montris leonon kaj demandis: “Kion dirus ĉi tiu tigro, se ĝi povus paroli?” Lia amiko respondis: “Antaŭ ĉio ĝi dirus, ke ĝi ne estas tigro, sed leono. ”

Two friends visited the zoo.

One pointed to the lion and asked: “If this tiger could speak, what would it say?”

His friend answered: “First of all it would say that it is not a tiger but a lion.”

Provinca stacidomo. La trajno malfruas. 

“Terure! La trajno malfruas pli ol 20 minutojn. Mi ne komprenas, kial ekzistas la horaro!? ”

“Sed se ne ekzistus la horaro, kiel vi scius, ke la trajno malfruas?”

At the province railway station. The train is late.

“Terrible! The train is late more than 20 minutes. I don’t understand why the schedule exists?”

“If the schedule did not exist, how would you know the train is late?”
